Hey all I'm in Toronto and want to get started into DJing......I have no clue what I need (obiviously turn tables) but what else? My friend is a dj that is now retired and says I should buy some turn tables(used) for $200.00 and then go to a store that sells vinyls buy some no name songs for a buck each then fool around with it at home>
Any more comments you can add? Would anyone like to teach me :p I do live in down town toronto.....Also I think he said I need a mixer or something.....can't remember:p
His story is ....he applied for a dj job then went to the bar/club the dj there said here fool with this...and three weeks later after having no clue what turn tables were he was djing...is it that easy? He went on to DJ 6 years and went to competitions etc. and is very good :)
My History : I have been into trance since I was 11 or 12 and my mp3 collection has surpassed 20 gigs ;) Now 16, I'd like to learn this and do it well....I have taken music before so I'm not rhythmically challenged, but no composer either...lol
Aol: Forgot987
Icq : PM me for it
P.S. if you are going to flame at me because I'm a n00b at this, go exasperate someone else.... |

No.
and yes, you need a mixer. Also get some records that you like to practice with.
And go to this url and read everything there...be sure to bring some time with you:

maching beats and building a set is NOT an easy task...
it takes time, money, and ALOT of patience(mostly money)...:):):)
however it is well worth it, good money and great job, plus its alot of fun!!!
any way, yea you need a mixer and 2 TT's...
go to www.123dj.com and browse around in there to see stuff you want in your price range...
also to learn, www.godisadj.org is a pretty good site...
