I have no input to this thread that is really helpful, but I'd like to say French hip hop is great, since the country is a hole. :) Some of the best turntablism and MC's come out of France, both rhyming in English and French.

Where's jdat when you need him. :wtf:

hmm yeah i absolutely agree. i've got 'zik television (you can receive it per digital satellite on astra) at home, its a french hip hop tv-station, which broadcasts a lot of french hip hop (and few commercials). ^^ imo french hip hop is even better than american rap.

Yeh, American rap is a joke now. I liked in the movie La Haine, when the DJ put his speakers out the windows and started scratching some dope ass , echoing it throughout the whole housing projects. :] Lots of French movies similar to La Haine feature great hiphop, due to the 'situation' in France, giving birth to movies and lots of hip hop.

A track you may want to check out is called NTM featuring Cut Killer - Nique la Police, which was the track featured during the DJ part in La Haine. I'll put a sample up shortly.

there is a big amount of ppl originally from northern africa (maghreb) in the french society. a lot of them are fond of hip hop and boost the growth of hip hop in France. i love this french rap combined with oriental melodies.

Here is a sample. You'll be able to pick out some American samples in it. :]

Another movie like La Haine is 'Comme un Aimant', which also has a very good soundtrack.

Both of you seem to have a good knowledge about french society :eyes:
