| Damn! Nice rig! What made you decide the Xone92 with linear instead of rotary? Did you have a chance to try the rotary? |

yeah i guess i'm kind of spoiled in that i only want the best... had about 4k around august but waited until now to reach my 6k limit... the mackies are overkill for djing but i'll also use them as my stereo speakers... i.e. have my laptop plugged in via FS to play mp3s and stuff.... heck i'll just spin records for the sake of listening everyday. :D
miss bliss... if i have one word of advice, it's spend the money on europe first!!! i travelled around europe summer of 2003 and went to 13 different countries for about 6K with airfare and all included.... and that's going CHEAP considering how much i did.... but it was a once in a lifetime experience.

Just so you know studio monitors are not that great for listening or just playing back music for that matter. Studio speakers are meant to give off a flat response so when mixed or eqed on them it will be transparent. Home sterero speakers for the most part colour the sound. But in a good way subtracting mid frequencies and boosting treble and bass to give you that great sound. Its not a matter of having the best, its a matter of having whats right for you.. Soo essentially now you have a set of 1200$ speakers that will make all your music sound very flat, if you look at most audiophile speaker systems they run the signal through a tube amp, again to colour the sound in a good way.... Unless you plan on production the 824's are a bit silly... And may not serve you well for the intended purpose.

Grats! Enjoy your new toys.
Awhile back I picked up my 2 techs and a djm-3000.
Haven't touched them enough. Maybe a total of 60 hours of playtime has been used on them. Only because I couldn't fund my vinyl addiction.
I ended up spending $1200 with in 2 1/2 to 3 months time just on vinyl.
If I had the vinyl funding I'd push forward on it. Also now I'm finally getting my own place so that makes it even harder to fund the vinyl addiction.
Gotta love life! Car, Rent, GF, Car Rent, GF. |

frost thanks for the info... i knew that going in... i'm not a big fan of music being "colored" so to speak... i like to hear it as it was intended... if i want to color it i can just play my mp3 collection through a home stereo...
cheers for the info though...
