Photographer prices/charging per hour?

Hey there
does anyone here know how much a photographer would charge per hour for photographing (portraiture..lets say)...
i know in the end its all based on experience.. but i just wanan hear what people kind of have for ideas of what photographers charge... cuz i need to quote somoene and have no clue :( |

but i use digi and SLR for my everyday use |

What's the experience you have what's the photo shoot for etc etc
It's a very sticky subject.
If you're doing a 5 hour shoot wedding for example go for a 500+ $ charge.
If it's a small type deal I say go for a 75$/hour deal.
Dont forget to specific advanced deposit charges, cancelation fees, try to sneak in extra charges for film and development.
There's a lot you can require upfront and get away with. |

No offense but, you don't sound very professional. A rental is a bad idea if you've never used it. No one is going to want to sit for a portrait while you fiddle around with an unfamiliar camera.
I'd have them just pay for your expenses. That's if you can do a decent job. |

im not experienced with this equipment which is why i will be renting it ahead of time and practicing with it on a bunch of different models :)
as far as a camera.. yes i know how to use one..and i know how to do it well. |
