i've been fiddling with programming bass for quite some time now,and i do know how to get interesting patterns, but what is usually lacking is a proper bass sound,i'm really looking for some tips on how to program bass with any given synth(i think programming is usually very similar on different synth, only the sound may differ),the sound i'm looking for now is that typical bass sound that can be heard in clockx-overdrive(ron van den beuken remix, any tips would be welcome (i did do a search but it did not give me any helpfull results) :)

| your clip sounds very lo-fi :( but the bass is great imo, fast feeling. |

i think bass is really hard to program, there are so many thinks to think about...
u need to be aware of the octave the bass is going, the length of the note, which notes the bass is playing good on.. and u need a kick that fits the bass.. |

| Play with compression on the bass and kick, the kick should have an attack of about 10ms, and the bass should pump. So have the bass attack at like 0ms and a fast release |

The book I keep mentioning, The Dance Music Manual, has a great section on programming bass. I won't go into it too much since it's pretty thorough and complex.
One hint they give is have the bassline running while you're programming the sound, as well as the kick drum so you can tell if they're clashing. |

| yep mate also for this style of bass drive try to add a bit of a distortion but not much to the bass sound to give it that driving sound. |
