Frost is logical........except it does not explain the pattern of cleansing for the one rover but not the other as well as the fact that frost requires moisture....something not found on the Martian surface or atmosphere saving the ice cap, which the rovers are thousands of miles from.
EDIT: Another thought regarding Frost: NASA scientists say the dust in the rover's area is thick and dense. Frost would not be nearly sufficient to clean the panels to the near maximum output the agency is recording. In fact, frost would make it worse as the dense dust particales would trap any moisture into a hardened cement-like film rendering the panels useless. Think of those white plastic deck chairs....added frost or rain only traps or congeals any dirt....far from cleaning it. |
