hey guys
first of all dont snap at me, i have searched and couldn't find .
i have just got myself a Novation Nova and am having trouble recieving midi from fl studio. it just doesnt want to send or recieve. im stumped so any help would be much appreciated.

plugin the midi out from your soundcard into the midi in on the nova. plug the stereo audio outs on the nova into 2 inputs on your soundcard.
go into fruity and assign your soundcard to MIDI port 1.
add a 'midi out' channel. assign it to MIDI port 1 and channel 1.
now go to the options menu tab at the top of the screen and tick the following:
Enable MIDI remote control
Enable MIDI output
Enable MIDI master sync
in fruity's mixer look at the bottom - there should be an 'in' and an 'out.' assign the 'in' to the audio inputs on your soundcard. that will enable you to play that sound source through fruity's mixer (and thus be able to record from your nova). |

how do i assign my soundcard to a midi port, is it in the midi options? cause all i got in there to assign is 'midi mapper' and 'microsoft wavetable synth' And also on the mixer there is no option for the IN, all its got is 'none'. Is it a problem that the midi cables are connected through the joystick port of my crapper soundcard, oh iv got a crappy soundcard by the way.

you assign midi ports by going to options then midi settings.
what soundcard have you got? an audigy? install the latest drivers for it. you should at least be able to see the driver in floops. otherwise you have problems. i didnt actually know that you could connect midi cables through the joystick port on the back of your PC. let me get this right - you are connecting your soundcard to your nova using a midi cable right? thats the double ended round one with 5 prongs in a semi circle on it? as long as you are hooking it with that and one end goes into your soundcard and the other goes into the nova then you shouldnt have a problem. but your soundcard driver shoud be detected by floops, since you are sending midi out from that device. |

| i have got the default soundcard that came with the pc that is extremely outdated, which is most likely my main problem. Nup cant seee the driver in fruity at all. And yes the cables are connected from one to the other. But if the problem cant be solved then i shall just have to wait till next year to get my much deserved new computer |

| yea but what is the soundcard? the name? the model number? just go into control panel, system, device manager and check under sound and videogame controllers. it may be old but if its got midi in/out it should work. |

haha its late for you guys, its 7pm over here in good old kiwi land.
anyway, problem solved, i downloaded a new driver for my soundcard and it works perfectly now. hoooooooooorrraaaay. now my lonely xmas will be extra special.

you insomniac mother ****** :stongue: 11:15 and im up - gotta scoure southampton central for a guitar case then lug everything back to kent for a couple of days. good job on getting the nova hooked up grunta - i knew it would work. mwaha! mef - get some sleep! you are prolly asleep right now actually. ehehehehe.
