well i can use 73, however last time i was offered the 45metre circle desk with 40 djm 600s and 75 decks i hit a technical snag which kinda scarred me for life so i don't think i'll be going to that extremity again :(

But i can honestly that i started listening to his sound from 2001,noting at the same time that tiesto was also taking my interest at this point in time.
But Armin is gonna go off..regardless im happy that hell be doing a set at summa, i pray to god he does an extra extra long set at qbh :eyes: )

i only discovered armin at the start of last year --jolene can recall fond memories of me saying
me: "man this track's wicked, whats the name?"
jolz: "erm it is [insert track by armin here], fool!!!"
me is now a huge form of newbie hilarity until jolene falls asleep in Room

hey now, don't bash him for liking trance for a long time and not posting on tranceaddict.
Look at me, I joined TA in june, and that's over a year since I decided trance was too sappy as a musical genre for me to listen to with any regularity anymore. |

hey m, ive been around and listening to trance but ive only recently discovered forums such as this.
Of course ive used the internet before but never really looked at forums all that crefully which is why i posted the message i :toocool:
But nevertheless, im amazed at how armins career has been built up in the last few years, from seeing him at godskitchen back in 2001 or was it 2002? and then a week later for a set at "zos" (out of all places)...after that stint thats when i really got into his style of trance music.:D
But as most people say, trance is dead when really it does make a big comeback and most of the top djs play trance if not progressive/uplifting trance.
anyhow enough of my philosophising...

I'm not here to fight. It's my personal taste, and I started on trance, back when I as a yung'un, in 98', 99', it was all about the more progressive, 'layered' feel to the music. I was all about earlier progressive trance, goa, and hard. It really didn't matter back then I was taking everything of all styles in. When the uplifting came in in late 99', I liked it originally too, I discovered Tiesto and Ferry, like everyone else, but after about a year of hearing 'snare-drum buildup' with you hands in the air ---> Climax of the song with a simple melody overtop, I had to find something else.
Generally now, I like the dirtier, funkier beats, anything from the recently reinvented style of progressive that digweed and masiello are playing, to the to the 'lighter', slightly more melody driven sound of deep dish or how sander gets at times, and yes, I do listen to house as well, but I'm not sure what you consider 'handbag house', but definately not what gets played alongside some form of hip hop at a booty shakin' minor's bar. More along the lines of Tenaglia, and Lawler.
But I'm not here to fight, like I said, music is your choice, and if you prefer trance [or what today is traditionally referred to as trance] then all the power to you. The above comment of mine was only to point out that one does not have to like just trance to post on the TA boards. If the above comment offended you or your choice in music, then I apologise, I was just shedding light on why I don't listen to it nearly as much anymore. |

haha dude relax.. i'm not about to start any fight about anything.. hence the usage of :p instead of :whip: ;)
yes trance in its heyday is the shiznit, when almost every DJ and his dog on earth thought it was cool to play trance (PvD 97-98, Sasha 98-99, and i thought back then tenagila used to play a bit of it too?)
today's trance is different, of course nothing beats old skool trance, but imo i wouldn't call it sappy at all.. handbag house (or 'gay house' if you prefer) is my own term for commercial house .. :D
I respect your choice of music as much as everyone elses who listens to whichever genre they are addicted to.. :cool:
