i'm not a big fan of the whole historic time peice movies out there. there has been only 2 that i ever liked. the messenger and king arthur recently.

i was one of the few that missedout on troy and alexander. how are both like? troy looks to be the most exciting from the two but i heard alexander was pretty bloody.

Have you seen Gladiator?

I only seen Troy of those two and it was pretty ok. 2-2.5 out of 5.

if you know anything about history...you probably won't like it because of all the glaring inaccuracies...but if you don't care about that sort of thing...it's ok. and of course if you're a woman you just wanted to see brad pitt's ass anyway...

King Arthur? You jest, no? Despite being a myth in itself, King Arthur the movie wasn't even true to the original myths at all. While you're at it, why not group Lord of the Rings in there, because it was surely historical too.

And the Messenger was a mess up too (Besides being the only movie that manages to make Milla Jovovich look bad, which I thought was impossible).

In answer to your question: Troy was good. I didn't see Alexander. Troy is dull in a few areas, but overall the fight scenes make up for it. But again, Troy is a story, not history.

only two historical fiction movies you've liked?
damn dude

how about braveheart?
dances with wolves
last of the mohicans

and i haven't seen troy or alexander, but assumed both were bad more or less
i've gotten to the point where even if it has sick fight scenes, it still needs a good plot and acting to be entertaining
king arthur i saw, but with my gf at the time, who loved it
so of course i pretended to like it
thought it was pretty poor though

both pretty much blew. don't waste your time.

go watch House of Flying Dagges instead. ;)

Alexander is like one of those ty movies on the History Channel except narrated by Anthony Hopkins and 3 hrs long; some of the battle scenes are pretty cool

Troy is annoyingly epic
