exactly, i mean in a few days i've learnt how to mix tracks in traktor - not exactly difficult to be honest... and some of the mixes don't sound that far behind some of the professional DJs. For me it just wouldn't be the same going to see someone mix on a computer - I wanna see the DJ look thru his vinyls, spin them about etc :p ...

weird comparison but it's kinda like adding video replays for offsides in football (soccer) - yeah it would make the game more fair, accurate and possibly even better, but it would take some of the 'romance' outta the game if every single decision was right!

Like many here, I'm saddened by increasing competition posed by digital audio technology to good ole analogue (turntables)... but think about it... without technology, there could be no edm. Nothing will be the same as workin on a set of good decks, feelin' that viynl....ooo yaa :eyes: :eyes:

He can still be a DJ...a digital jockey :D

Not to mention, the times he did stop by here, I was unemployed.
:sadgreen:

When I saw him this past October at Crobar-NYC, he was pretty much on his laptop the entire time. He really looked bored the entire night :haha:

he started using his laptop here in nyc in october extensively. for the start of his residency, they had a totally new set up for sasha, in which he did live remixing on the spot. i wasn't able to recognize much remixing except maybe smashing pumpkins - 1979, but my friend who was there with me said that sasha did a lot of extensive remixing on the spot. it was quite flawless... i guess the laptop can only enhance the experience, especially if sasha does it live.

Oh ok well there you go then!

And as for the BT DJ thing. He doesn't exactly classify as a DJ what he does is more like remixing live and he calls it a laptop symphony. He loads ableton, reason and some oda programs onto his laptop. Then he plays a track in ableton live and then beat matches a break or bassline or whatever to that track and starts playing that and then he add's more stuff. At the same time he has a keyboard (think it's either a radium or oxygen8) connected via USB to his powerbook and uses it to trigger things in the program or use vsti's and add's whatever he wants on the keyboard and all this is done in real time so it's kind of like remixing live.

I think he's stopped doing live shows for a little while now. Right now he's mostly doing laptop symphonies, most of the time for God's Kitchen.

wow alot of ignorant posts here. if u guys actually had the chance to fire up ableton u would understand that whut he's doing is step up. while using a computer is not the most interactive thing ever... its certainly a step towards the future.

NOTE: Traktor is NOTHING like Ableton for those you use trying to make the analogy
