This is so ing sad. Anyone remember that Earthquake in Turkey a few years ago that killed 45,000 people? Christ - 45,000 unexpectedly die in a matter of minutes in another country, but when 5,000 die in a terrorist attack, the entire ing country decides that it's worthy of a bumper-sticker empire. I wonder just what the measure of a single human life is to people anymore.

Yeh i remember tht quake in Turkey...my friend in LA told me that the news channels didn't bother covering this story because LA had an earthquake of their own... something like 3.4 on the richter scale and 2 people were injured by falling plates...i men it just seems that people are only bothered by what affects them.

I also realised that the number of people that died today is more than twice the number killed on 9/11...i guess it doesn't take as much attention though because it was a force of nature rather than a human provoked (sp?) attack.

At the end of the day this is such a sad day for the world :(

I was at work for a 13 hr boxing day shift and my boss comes into the warehouse at 4:30pm and says check out the tv section, we had BBC on. I was speechless and some of my co-workers phoned home (like their real homes) because they had family near the areas, they are all ok. This shows how we are at the mercy of mother nature at times. My prayers and sympathy goes out to all affected, especially around Christmas time.
