Nick Warren is the man

I have always considered Nick Warren to one of my fav Djs, going through little spells of "Warren addiction", but now its just all warren sets, all the time!

going from his older Essential mixes (97, some of his best), through all his live sets, over the years.

every year has such a discticnt style, groove, and feel to it. His mixing isnt always the best, but when he does pull of a nice one its class!

i personaly think his live sets are much better than his albums, but thats just me.

here is a tracklisting from a recent set:

Nick Warren - Live At Club Home Budapest, Hungary (17-09-2004)

01. Nikola Gala - Swing 2 Harmony (JDK Remix)
02. ID
03. Matthew Dekay vs. Beastie Boys - Intergalactic
04. Quivver & Sutton - ColdRush (Ska Mix)
05. Mic Burns - See Me Fall (Matthew Dekay vs Proluctors Trousy Mix)
06. Spooky - Belong (Sasha's Involver Mix)
07. Luke Chable & Danny Bonicci - Ride (King Unique Remix)
08. Orbital feat Lisa Gerrard - One Perfect Sunrise (Stereo 8 Remix)
09. Benz & MD - Wonder
10. Benz & MD - Spiagia
11. New Order - Blue Monday (Hardfloor Mix)
12. Tilt - The World Doesnt Know
13. Michael Sembello - Maniac (Remix)
14. Stellar Project feat. Brandi Emma - Get Up Stand Up (Phunk Investigation Instrumental Mix)
15. Madonna - Ray Of Light (Derek Howell Remix)
16. Joris Voorn - Incident
17. Unkle feat Ian Brown - Reign (Way Out West Mix)
18. James Holden - Horizons (Way Out West Remix)
19. Holden & Thompson - Come To Me
20. Kosmas Epsilon - Feed Me Acid
21. Paris & Healy - Blue
22. Mateo Murphy - Meltdown
23. Fitalic - E-Motion (Luke Chable Remix)
24. 16 Bit Lolitas - Take My Life

anybody else with me?

can't say I'm with you on this.

I've never been much of a warren fan, but I also said the same thing about Dave Seaman, until I heard his latest essential mix. Maybe it's time I started 'revisiting' some of the progressive trance jocks I never liked back in the day.

I must agree. My love of Nick Warren's artistry had begun with Way Out West, and through that I started listening to Nick Warren. So incredibly talented. I cannot begin to emphasize how beautiful the tracks are that he has produced over time. Wow.

...I still love Way Out West more though :p

Jody's got the real DJ talent. Nick is more the production side of WOW I think. Some of Jody's sets from pre-2000... IN-saaaaaaaaaane!

One exception was WOW's Trust the DJ set... I think Nick did a lot of that. Great tracks, but I still can't ID most of them!

I have been 'into the scene' for a LONG time (1991) and Nick Warren is one of the best to see live. I’ve seen him kick off an opening DJ in Atlanta who sucked. And he spun one of my top three live shows ever at RedNoFive in Chicago where he spent the night toying with the crowd. He would wind up the crowd to expect the song to ‘hook’ in one direction and then smile at everyone when he took it a completely different direction… thus screwing up everyone on the dancefloor… it was crazy how he controlled the crowd that night in Chicago… More so than I have ever seen a DJ do it before or after…. And Ive seen them all, all around the world. Nick kicks ass live. Though they are not quite the same genre...give Nick and AVB the same crate and Nick would rule. Nick can mix.

thats a great set, except the stupid metro dance voice over, worst voice over of all time!!!!

but warren gest funky, proggy, trancy, and tribal all in one set, and thats why i love him. i love EDM, and he takes you through so many different styles...its just perfect, you are never left wanting more, cause you feel soo satisfied

Well, DUH! Just by looking at the tracklisting I see a lot of recognizable tracks that I like. Must be a good set, no wonder one can become addicted to Nick Warren. He is a great DJ, few of his sets in my collection are quite enjoyable. But they are not very impressive, if you know what I mean. Good but not THAT good.
