Hey guys,

I've been producing for over a year now, and percussion comes together pretty quickly for me as well as pads, but It's really difficult to find a lead instrument for my hook.. This is one of my major problems.

I produce mostly the deeper side of trance, and it seems like every instrument I try out, nothing "fit's". Most sounds I find are like in zta which are more sawish, for trance trance (no offense to you guys who produce trance), but being on the more progressive side, those sounds don't usually fit into the mix for me.

The sounds in FM7 usually are a bit too bland (even with fx). I've also tried Absynth, etc. Also, when I do find nice sounds, they're mostly pads, and aren't able to carry the song.

Any recomendations? Anybody know what the guys who produce more of the progressive side usually use? Any other recommendations? Adding fx, or maybe it's something I am doing wrong, etc.

Any help is really appreciated.

Thanks,
Rodas

try experimenting by adding FX units as Filter, FLanger etc on the z3ta leads..

Hey.

Thanks for the reply.

Besides that, is there anything else that I can do?

If you have reason, the Malstrom can make some very interesting and good sounds. I find that I can make sounds that would fit well with progressive / chillout trance (or house even) with it.

I suggest that you should try Albino 2, Vanguard and Superwave. For me it's the golden triplette for making trance, any style of it.

just dont open the filter fully like u would in trance, have it as a bandwidth pass or a low pass about half open to give u less euphoric and more dark sounds.

What about a really detuned square wave?
