| how was the show gordy? was it packed? i was interested in going, but i saw it was sold out, and after blowing $150 for grand master flash at the palms (and the power going out at 12:15, which then canceld the show) i figured i shouldn't spend any more money this weekend. what was the crowd like? |

Tiesto spun a 4 hour set (2:00am - 6:00am)! I'm going on 24 hours w/o sleep after driving back to San Francisco from Vegas but I wanted to drop a note before hitting the sack.
Ice Las Vegas was packed!!! Very nice venue too--my first time there. It was so crowded that they had ZERO general admission tickets for sale. The people taking the tickets said everyone being let in had to be on their lists, and even said they might have to start denying people entry to the show even if they had already bought tickets, as it approached time for Tiesto to come on (I doubt that happened, but that tells you how intense it was inside).
Tiesto was VERY much into the show--working the crowd, smiling, clapping, jumping, even more than he did 2 weeks ago in San Francisco.
His set was a bit less trancy than his SF set, but the longer duration meant he could throw that much more into it--overall the track mix was superb. I recognized a lot of the songs, but really only know the track names of a few without researching. The crowd went nuts during Adagio For Strings (not surprising), and he spun one of my favorites, Ton TB - Dream Machine.
During the last hour or so, Tiesto was just showing off, and the crowd loved it! He was going absolutely crazy with the mixing, tweaking the songs more than I've ever heard, and even did an encore at the end (maybe that's normal, I haven't been to enough shows to really say).
The highlight of the night for me was hearing all my friends I took to the show rave about how much they were blown away by it (even the guy who rarely listens to trance said the show and the music were phenomenal).
Since I know we have some music snobs :haha: who look for trainwrecks, I noticed none, and my friends said his mixing was borderline flawless. So take that for what it's worth. :tongue3
What a night! |
