| I've heard that leaving amplifiers on 24/7 is the best thing to do. Is it like that with mixers to? I got a Stanton SA-3.. |

| I don't know...never helped it any but I just never turn it off because it's not worth getting out of bed when I forget to turn it off ;) |

My guess is it reduces the amount of cooling and heating you get from having it on and off, which would reduce anything expanding inside, if its on all the time at a good temperature then the components shouldn't change much in size.
I got the X1500 mixer, and its on about 20 hours aday, and I have all my music go through it, even if I'm playing a game or watching a movie, it is fed through my mixer, it get in hot, but have had no problems after months of doing this, and I ain't worried abit. |

| I work at a radio station and we have two mixers that are left on 24x7. They both get very hot but still continue to function. |

Are those mixers designed for Dj use?
If not, its not that good advice; specially for low end equip.
My advice for all is you don't need it 24/7. If you worry about the

at least give it a rest once in a while. The materials can also take as much heat. |

I do the same as with my computer !
If I know I'm not goign to use it in the next 24h I close it or else I leave it open !
I usually know that I will have some time tomorrow to mix a little after school or work for example then I leave it on !
If I'm know I'll be off for the weekend I close everything for sure. |

i used to leave my old ty stanton mixer on for days at a time (used for comp, dvd, and tts) without getting any problems after a few years. never overheated, just usual wear and tear. not going to do the same with my new mixer though :)

As with computers,
It's not so much the leaving it on but rather turning it on all the time that puts a strain on your amp.
Same is true for your PC.
I would still feel reluctant to leave somthing on 24/7 as no manufacturer would ever be able to promise you that your whole house wont be burnt down if an electrical fault occurs.
Similarly, it's a dumb ass thing to do as it's a hell of a waste of rescources and money. If we all started doing it just think of the amount of electricity we would waste.
Cheers

| I leave my laptop on all the time, and my mixer on most of the time since I run my laptop's output through it and my speakers. |
