REVIEW: Darude at the Guv 29/12/04

It's 4:00 and bout to go to bed..... Left the guv at 2:30..... may be the shortest night at any club EVER!!!! Got there around 10:30 and had to wait in line with a bunch of excited kiddies (Man, they know it's almost 0 degrees outside, yet they insist on wearing open sandals and then bitching about how their feet are freezing... then YELLIN "GIMME SOCKS SOMEONE" :S). Got in within 10 minutes to hear the usual Z103 crap bein spun by some DJ (don't even know who it was). There were a couple of good tunes in the opening set but mostly cheese..... it was somewhat good though, to get a taste of Euro after a long time.... it's been a while ;) Then THEY STARTED REPEATING TUNES!!!!! WHY, WHY oh WHY do Z103 Djs repeat TUNES????????? There are soooooooooo many other crappy Euro songs but they insist on repeating the crappiest of them all ---> "PUT UR HANDS UP IN THE AIR PUT UR HANDS UP IN THE AIR" :S They killed Operation Blade and then Traffic too.... Damn, I thought the night actually started off with some promise and they go and do this!!!! :whip: But everyone was having fun so that's a big plus!! Then some lady came on stage (Lil' Suzy or someone) and started yelling with the worst voice EVER!!!! Went up to the Drink... prog house in there but NO ONE dancing :(.... so disappointing... then again wat to 16 yr olds know bout prog house (I shoulda known better ;)) Danny D came up next and played Traffic and Operation Blade and some other ty Euro Tunes ALL OVER AGAIN!!! (Geez :S) And wat was with that 10 minutes of Hip Hop?????? EURO, TRANCE and Freestlye.... nothing bout hip hop was mentioned for the main room!!! SO MESSD UP... wanted to go up to the Drink to catch some of MO and Manzone and Strong... BUT THEY SHUT ALL THE OTHER ROOMS so that the main room would crowd up :S So very disappointing.....
OK DARUDE KICKED ASSSSSSS.... but only for an HOUR!!!! WTF was that man???????? He Dropped a remix of Clear Blue and Hurricane (Mike Shiver Mix) MADE MY NIGHT!!!! Completely made up for the cheese spun (repeatedly) by "DJ" Danny D. He finished off with Sandstorm and faded it out after doin some funky stuff with the song and I was like WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT????? Only an HOUR????? Darude signed a few autographs that more than pleased the young 'uns and he was out......then some more "PUT YOUR HANDS UP IN THE AIR" with the really talented Z103 DJs who pull the Guv Horn at juss the correct time :whip: ... I was outta there!!!!!!!
All in all, the 20 bucks I paid was WELLL WORTH IT only coz Darude dropped Hurricane (Best track of 2004 IMO)... If his set coulda been longer and it woulda been a good nite..... That teaches me never to go to any party having anything to do with freakin Z103 and 16 yr olds!!!!! NEVER AGAIN... I CAN"T BELIEVE THEY REPEAT SONGS MORE THAN 3 TIMES MAN!!!!:whip: :whip: Did any other TAs go?

Yeah He played Sandstorm.... last song of his 1 hr set! He did some funky remixin stuff with his CDJs.... he usually saves sandstorm for the end.... but seriously... i was really disappointed with the length of his set :( BUT HE PLAYED HURRICANE SO IT"S ALL GOOD :):)

| its disappointing, because i'd go see darude in a heart beat!!! i know the guy drops quality trance, and i'd be in pure trance bliss if i saw him on a nite where hes the only guest. But combine the night with Z103 (HUGE NO NO) the euro cheese mobile and the gino sqaud(BIGGER NO NO) and ALL AGES (THE BIGGEST NO NO) and i aint touching that place with a 50ft poll. i hope he comes back to toronto for a real event. |

What did you expect? A Spin Saturday at the guv?? But the good side of this is that at least parties like this are getting 16 year olds into beats instead of hip hop. I started off liking Euro when i was 15 as well. Think of it as electronic training grounds. |
