Josh Wink Style Resonating Bass

I was wondering if anyone here new how to re-produce the resonating bass-ish sound from Josh Wink - State of Consciousness, the one which keeps changing and getting higher and more resonating.

I think it may be a 303 bass of some sort.

Sorry I havent got a sample, but hopefully someone will be able to help.

Which VSTI could you use?
What FX?
What variables to change, i.e. filter cutoff, resonance, etc.

Hope someone can help, and again sorry to being vague.

Anyone know of any softsynths that can do similar sounds?

VST called SH-1001, but I've heard it's no good compared to the real thing :S
I tried it once, it's very retro sounding, and in my opinion not very pleasant, but then again, I think the SH-101 wasn't really that great :D

get a 303 soft synth theres plenty muno tau and the free computer music 303 are good www.computermusic.co.uk its in the studio section ;)

higher state was done with a Tb 303.
The sound you are referring to has very little done to it out of the 303s output, bar him distorting the input on his desk a tad.
check out 'everybody needs a 303' by fatboy slim for an other example of this in action and how high it can go.
There are various other classic synths which well sound almost the same, but NOTHING sounds like a 303. Closest you will get is probably a Roland MC 202 (classic and rare but pennies compared to the TB- and the sequencer is a mother****** to use), and various other Roland classics do similar things.

Either splash out and get a real one, or search for one of the aforementioned roland ones. Or a FAT freebase rack module... cheap as chips (it cost £140 brand new a few years bck so second hand will be a lot less) and will do the job adequately. The bonus is the FAT freebase has midi control, which the original 303 doesnt.

As for software- knows, as i dont use it. Used rebirth once and it was ok, even better considering it was free- not a patch on the real thing tho. Ditto for the 909 and 808

So what is changed to differ the sound?

Is if the filter? Resonance? Or the oscillator? I honestly have no idea

i get that sound by putting tune at 12oclock cutoff at 9 resoncance at 3 oclock env at 7 decay at +4

then glide at max and bobs our aunite

add some slight chorus and distort :)
