Yeah...the stuff I've heard from Markus, I haven't really been too impresed since it's all light and fluffy for my taste.
However, I'm still gonna go into Spirit with an open mind. |

I would say there is some fluff in the melodies but the bass lines are usually more darker/brooding than anything usually I deem fluffy. For example the song that he plays on his recent mix: Mike Foyle pres Statica - For Your Eyes Only. The bass is dark and pronounced but there is still a softer melody. I like the balance. It's definitely not pounding, driving bass lines like PVD or something. A song like Kyoto - Ferry Corsten is fluffy to me. But sometimes I like Ferry Corsten fluff.
Markus doesn't really vary from his main 'theme' or sound very much. I don't foresee him doing anything different for us in NYC.
Sorry for my promotion but I'm a GDJB Markus whore. Here's a review that kind of says how I feel:
As a consequence of balancing the progressive and trance sounds, Markus Schulz has produced a CD which is both dark and uplifting. The track selection and remix work is often subtle, and always melodic. Compared to the other ‘big’ trance mix CD to be released this year, A State of Trance 2004 by Armin van Buuren, Coldharbour Sessions 2004 is as melodic, but deeper, slightly darker, and in my opinion, more innovative in its overall soundscape. Several tracks appear on both CDs, but with different mixes, providing an opportunity for direct comparison of the sound both DJs have produced.
Seems that Armin and Markus are so close now, I wouldn't be surprised that they share the same bed when each is visiting the other. They are constantly promoting each other on their broadcasts it's funny. Markus: "Sorry honey, Armin is in town this week. Can you sleep on the coach?"
Nah, I'm just kidding. I know how Mrs. Schulz wears the pants in that household. |

I also like Kyoto! but I recognize it as fluff. I can hear fluff when I'm in that mood, not all fluff is bad. Markus surely spins some fluff as do most DJ's IMO. It's the nature of trance in a lot of ways.
Again, I've always liked Ferry Corsten too. I have for at least 5 years. He gets me moving too.
I sense hostility from someone everytime I post.... |

Well, your avatar with Sander K is a lot more user friendly to this board since there are so many peeps that want to snuggle with him.
Maybe it's the nature of being a Rams fan and wanting to 'butt heads.' But actually I just meant Bubbleravegirl doesn't like me. Oh well...I'm not gonna cry about it. |
