Recommend me an insurance company

I'm in desperate need of a car insurance company, but it looks like I'm gonna be stuck with one of those companies that will rape you in payments.
Found out I got dropped by my insurance company for 'lack of payment' (they attempted to charge payments 2ce to my credit card too closely together when my card was at its limit one month, and dropped me as a result). We had just moved, they never called, and my old neighbors were sending back my mail instead of holding it for me, so I didn't know. I suspected something was up, but kept forgetting to look into it. When I called and figured out what had happened, they were about to sign me back up, til they found out I got 2 more tickets on my record since then (1 from an infraction 2 yrs ago), bringing my total to 3. So now it looks like I've been deemed a 'high risk' driver (3 tickets, all minor, yet only 2 points on my record). All this, coupled with the 'at fault' accident I had when I avoided hitting the moose in my path, leaves me begging to find an insurance company who will take me.

Any suggestions?

I swear, this is one of the worst pickles I've ever gotten myself into. I'm ready to move back to the States (where insurance is WAY cheaper, even on one of those ghetto companies), or at least 'import' my car back into the USA to get cheaper coverage.

It would be good to know if being dropped for non-payment is still showing in your records...that's a killer if you try to go to another company.

I'm forwarding this to a friend in the biz...I'll let you know if they have any advice!

Since it just happened a few months ago, I'm sure its there. I think its relevant for 3 yrs.

Really, I'm NOT a bad driver, but I feel they make you feel like such a criminal (and like a loser)!!! This was all preventable too, which is why I'm kicking myself.

A lot of the insurance companies were closed today, so I was only able to get one quote- of $2089 for 6 mos. :eyes:

Totally appreciate all the help, Mark.

Also, that accident that I'm 'liable' for totally infuriates me. I swerved to avoid hitting a moose head-on, and since I grazed the gaurd rail which set off my airbags, I'm now "liable". Had I hit the moose, I wouldn't be. Mind you, I saved them millions of $$$ in 3 people's medical bills (had we survived), and only cost them $5,000 for body work and new air bags. Having never been in such an accident before, if I could go back in time, I never would have made the claim, cuz they just make you pay for it, and then some, in higher rates.

What is really the purpose of these insurance companies, aside for making them money??? In the end, it looks like we pay for it tenfold.

They can't take 'high risk drivers' at this time. (they're 'on restriction'). They were kind enough to recommend a couple others to me though.

Just drive without the insurance... see how far you get. I'm pretty sure you'll end up saving a lot more money, even if you get caught sooner or later. ;)

LOL! That would only make my driving record WORSE if I were to get pulled over.

3 tickets is a problem nat, most insurance companies wont cover you since you have 3 tickets, i would have recommended the group insurance i go with, but they refused to cover one of my friends from work since he has 3 minor tickets as well.

Importing the car makes a good suggestion get american insurance, and drive it in canada.

i had the same problem getting a car, since me and my mom are new drivers they all considered me high risk and refused to give me insurance.

you may want to still ask them though call the personal is group insurance, they most likely will re-direct you to the personal consumer group, if your company doesnt fall under their wing.

here is their # 1888-277-6481
