Asshat, I did, it's $318 return Toronto to L.A. (one direction is $20.50, the other $180), add all the taxes you just mentioned above, and it's $318. A very good price, you can't fly cheaper from Buffalo to L.A. (can't even fly direct for that matter). |
$318 is still a lot different than the original 20.50 one way. So my $300 prediction was bang on. |

In defence of the airline pricing scheme, other than fuel surcharges, the airlines don't control any of the additional nav fees, security charges, airport improvement fees, taxes, etc that get added to the price of a ticket that drive it up so high.
Do you complain when you go into McDonald's, a clothing store, a car lot or any other location for that matter and the prices quoted in ads / on tickets / on the boards don't include applicable taxes either?
People know to expect to have to add 15% to the price of most goods when buying them, just as they should now come to expect to add around $100 or so to the "base" cost of a flight. |
The problem is many fronts. First there isnt enough competition in Canada to drive prices down. Second, taxes and surcharges here are so exorbitant that they easily add as much as 50-70% on many short haul flights. For example. Buffalo to New York round trip inc taxes and surcharges = $140 CDN
Toronto to New York inc taxes and surcharges = $350.
Figure that one out.
I always fly buffalo to new york and from JFK i can get even cheaper deals to overseas destinations. When i fly to Argentina for example i always save about $800 through buffalo and NYC over flying from Toronto. And i take GOOD airlines too not the crappy jetsgo type ones. |

| I don't disagree at all with your points Jay, I just think it's a bit unfair to slag the airlines for their advertising of prices which don't include all taxes / fees when really, they're not doing anything different than any other good or service provider in the country. |

I saw something like this last yr during summer but didn't make use of it cuz of an exteremely short stay over time especially for MTL....One thing different this yr tho is to pay the almost full return fare whilst getting a discount on the go out flights as opposed to a flat fee like last yr....
On a side Note ,their site is Painfully slow :whip: |

I love that word.
Domestic flights in Canada are much more expensive than that. Weekday flights to and from halifax just cost me about $600.
However, jetsgo is an ASS airline. My first experience with them was horrible, and had I flown with them over Christmas, I wouldn't have seen my family over the holidays. They ed up BIG time. |
I never said I would fly Jetsgo, they are an ass airline. :) |

asses taxes, navcan fees, GST, Airport improvement fees, security fees etc etc and then tell me what the price is.
I know for a fact that a flight costing ZERO dollars will come out costing $150 or so by the time all the service fees and taxes are added on. |
That is not ture, because I got my 'FREE' round trip flight from Toronto to Vancouver for $53.00 after all the fees...
Either way, this is a good deal...Vagas anyone?? |

it's too bad that these airlines prices weren't VAT to provide us with a more accurate cost of travel. i'd still like to see the breakdown however in taxes, but the price listed with VAT ..
i'm guessing that they don't do this already because the amount in taxes you pay is all relative to where you're going and where you fly out of

What's wrong with JetsGo?
Lets talk a 5 hour "equipment delay" in Dorval (PET International) while every other f'ing airline was going in and out like a mofo.
No food, no drinks, no compensation. FFS I could have done the drive in less time.
JetsGo's strategy is to keep every plane they have in the air at all times - one has problems, the whole f'ing system goes bonkers. Cancelled flights, delayed flights, p-off'd customers. They have no "back-up" equipment. And not to mention the equipment they do have is at least 15 to 20 years old.
Never again JetsGo! NEVER AGAIN! NEVER EVER AGAIN! |
