needle wont fall

I have to use a replacement needle because my other one is broken. The replacemtn needle/cart is a technics headshell with stanton 890AL DJ PRO needle. No matter what i adjust the counterwait and height to, the needle just stays up.

Any ideas... i am not familure with this type of needle at all.

Thanks

that makes no sense...can you push the needle down slightly by hand with no resistance? if so, you are not setting up your counter weight properly...screw it all the way in.

it is... its screwed in all the way and when i push it down it pops right back up. it is very strange!

if i take the weight off it falls down, but theres way too much weight on the record that way.

if you have the little screw on weight screwed to the back of the big counter weight, thats your problem.

Do you have the queue lever lifted? Only thing I can think of.

i would go with the lever :p

or the extra couter-weight. take it off (if you have it on), rebalance the cart and reset the weight.

try puttin the counter weight on backwards.

that is the worst thing you could do
there is a reason the weight is adjustable, so you can set it to your cart specs
if you just slap the weight on backwards or set the weight all the way front, all you're doing is decreasing the life of your records and needles as well as making any sound coming from it sound like ass since the needle isn't able to do it's job properly

hmm...but then when you scratch the needle just skips crazily without enough weight on them
