Hello fellow DJs,
I've been looking for dj scene all over the world (from my internet :o)
And i found out most DJs now do VJ...??
So what ive been thinking is.. DJ nowadays play some eye candy n stuff on the screen together....Music + Video... *Pioneer DVJ*
So in the future will DJ = VJ ???? :nervous:
I planned to learn VJ too.....
*BTW i know what is a VJ...but i dont know how to VJ*
What do you think??
Lets Discuss & Argue! :D :toothless
Cheers!! |

if the dvj thing really catches on, I honestly think that it will be horrible for the scene.
First of all, Djing is already bad enough that a chick can be a stripper/dj and become quite successful, even if she is . Guys can dress like a freak to help their popularity, but some of them are still quite good (yoji is alright) I dont really like that proteuss guy though. Anyways, to a fair extent djs are still mainly judged on what they play, and how well they carry it out.
Now at first you think yeah sure, the dvj is just for fun you know? Add some visuals to the whole thing. But I fear that clubbers, and stuff will be easily amused by a "djs" "visuals" and before you know it a dj won't be judged quite as harshly on their music, but if they hit a chord with their videos they could become quite successful. So, its might slowly draw the focus away from the music.
Now this one is a stretch, and quite a large one, but see it as another big gap for advertising to sneak into. Its already bad enough that djs advertise equipment brands, but before you know it james zabiela will be scratching over coke, and the latest blockbuster.
Ok, that ones a bit of a stretch...
Anyways, I just want things to stay aimed twords the music, the dvj really is not at all. |

| hmm you make fair points but look at the likes of the chemical brothers. they not only do all the music but the visual effects too. if used corectly i recon the dvj could add to the whole experiance....IF used corectly! |

Yeah but Chemical Brothers' images are a bit simple, even for today.
This whole thing sounds very exciting and cool. But if the DVJ thing catches on, in 5 or 10 years time, clubbers will want ultra-cool images around the music which will make them more and more demanding.
I mean, this is good and all, but how many of us starting DJs can afford a Pioneer DVJ or can afford a production studio that allows us to integrate these "ultra-cool" images to the music? Not to mention, the software, the dvd-burner, etc...
The DVJ thing will make big DJs bigger...that's all. And yes, I agree it will take the focus away from music. |

I think there is alot of skillset to produce video as well as audio. I have to respect a dj that is willing to experiment with new ways to be creative.
Also DVD itself can hold Surround sound 5.1 and multiple audio streams that can be changed on the fly. Meaning that if authored right, the DVD can be an all audio disc that can have multiple sequences of sound that can be set up like tracks on a protools program. Up to 8 simultaneous streams of sound that can be switched on the fly and in sync per chapter. Along with 9 angles of video.
Think of the possible audio production to bring in hi hats and bass along with vocals at will. |

| incidently does it have to be the dj using it? much like the lighting jock there could be a dvj jock and he could be used in a similar way to an mc. |

I guess it could be someone else, but the whole point of the DVJ is to have the music completely in-sync with the visuals...hence, if you move the jog dial a bit forward, the image will also move with the sound. |

but Yoji is good to me :toothless haha...
ok here... an event hold at Indonesia, Jakarta *Stadium the club*... few months ago..
with Sander Kogllins -a new popular DJ from Holland- *if im not mispelled* bringing the latest "Reinessance Album" is a tour i guess... i was there... n what he did is doing DJ together with VJ... so i was like WTF!? a new revoultion???
naaaah... thats make me confused.
For Chemical Brothers... they are a group of ppl aight? if im not wrong.. so it is possible.. but what i saw is a person doing 2 stuff :eyes:
And if let say DJ & VJ will be together.. ... im gonna go bankrupt... doing DJ is a f@king expensive thing.. adding another VJ??!!! :eyespop:  :nervous:
Cheers! Peace! |
