| All I can say is BAN NUKES period. NO country should use them at all. Even those that help build them were against their use. Even their reasoning behind using them at all in the first place previously has been questionable. (read the Franck Report) |

Sigh, if only it were that simple. The irony is that if we were to collectively impose an international ban on Nukes, the USA would be the first to say " you, we're keeping our nukes". The big powerhouse nations are not willing to set the example. Everyones a realist.

But at this day and age Having nukes gives you power and protection,and alot of these countries (especialy in the middle east) get them or want to have them for self defence reasons,and it is understandable in a way. ie,look at Iran they are almost surrounded by US military,having nukes sinply gives them a reason for not getting attacked.But many only think for the sake of Isreal and if it is threat to Isreal then it is a no no.they are terrorists and they cant have them :o |

That right there is a BIG part of the problem here. These bigger and more powerful nations need to set an example and get rid of their own nukes and set an example instead of expecting everyone else to disarm and yet not disarming themselves which they should be doing if they expect any progress to be made.It has to be give and take type of co-operation instead of take and take on the more powerful nations part who want everyone to disarm and yet refuse to do it themselves and say that a bunch of other countries are so dangerous when they are just as dangerous themselves.
