Three things you can do in order to change your kicks...
1. Change the envelope.
2. Compression (4:1 ratio - 8:1)
3. Boost EQ. I forget the exact frequency to boost to had punch. I'll get back to you on that.
Or
Get a drum machine VSTi like NI Battery or Linplug RM IV. |
Awesome Scotty thanks for the help, I'm currently heading Way Out West (Tampa) for the weekend, I'll be working on this ;) any of those VSTi's free? |

| Scotty, I take it that you produce as well. I was wondering what you use, and when are ya gonna put up one of your tracks? :p |

| I don't produce. I just read out of the Producers Forum. :toocool: |

Just kidding...
Hardware:
2.8ghz P4 1GB DDR Ram
Mackie HR824 Monitors
Mackie HRS120 Subwoofer
M-Audio Keystation 88 Pro Midi Controller
Universal Audio UAD-1 PCI Card for effects
Software:
Cubase SX as my main sequencer
Ableton Live 4 rewired into Cubase
Spectrasonics Trilogy - most of my bass sounds
Spectrasonics Atmosphere - pads and strings
Linplug RM IV - drums
NI Kontakt - Sampler
NI FM7 - lead & random sounds
NI Pro-53 - lead & random sounds
rgcAudio Z3ta+ - lead & random sounds
Sampletank 2.0 XL - I like to use the Piano and guitar samples so I can find the keys of tracks and new melodies.
I'm not really comfortable with any of my lead synths so I'm considering consolidating it all by getting a Virus TI Keyboard.
As for samples... I'll post something later. |

Your studio sounds awesome :p, are you planning for this to be a career?
BTW random question. By any chance do you have the remix or acapellas for BT's Force of Gravity? No one ever gives me a straight answer, and I've searched forever... |

I never do anything half assed. ;)
Do you mean the remix kit to Force of Gravity? I don't have neither. |

Not bad! Good to see you putting that fruity loops to use. I like the bass + instrument thing that comes in around 2:00. I'd experiment with some delays like on some of the higher pitch synth parts. The kick sounds like it has reverb on it, if it does I'd take it off because it ends up muddying up the rest of the sounds by lingering on too long. One other thing, I think the bass could use a high eq rolloff or at least a dip somewhere in the middle, sounds like there is too much mid/high in it in proportion to the low end. So just a few technical suggestions. Percussion is way improved from the last thing I heard, so get some more kick samples, and some VSTs for the next track. Keep it up man!
I finally got my new computer last week, so it might be time to fire up fruity again. Athlon 64 +3500, 2GB DDR, fast fast!! I've been doing everything so far on a PIII 800, ha. |

It's Jeff! Thanks for listening ;)
Up until now, all my projects before have been lets say, 'FX-less', and even in this track I didn't put many FX, delays on the reverses, crashes, and on the choir pad. "Complete Mix" compressing FX... man I'm such a nooob at this :stongue: The kick is 3 in 1, one of them was the last addition to the song before it went online. Like Scott said, it was more boom than a punch, I feel like it cancels out a lot of the low frequencies, and your the 2nd person that said the kick lasted too long (check out my thread in amatuer productions), so that's got to go. I've been looking for a good kick or tweaking the ones I have to fit, but so far no good, but that just maybe because I'm still pretty bad at the techincal part of producing. I'm still experimenting.
The last thing you heard from me, I think that was my FIRST FLS SONG EVER!!! Child's Play!:stongue: You know I actually remixed that, so it's not as bad as before? :stongue:
Thanks for the replying Jeff ;) I'm going to start making changes to my song ASAP. And get yo ass into producting too! :p If I remember correctly you said you just got a new computer before the FLTA party! So what you waiting for sucka? :p |
