That storm in Jan 1999 WAS a big storm. Now thats what we should be calling winter storm warnings for. NOT days like today.
The media and the government is playing chicken little and im sick of it. |

All I have to say is, if you're gonna go under 60 on the highway then take the ing city streets. The highway is for people who drive, not park.
And to all the truck-drivin' tards out there: one lane is enough. |

I was talking about today. If you're talking about the Thursday before Christmas, I didn't have any problem. That was the one day it was actually fun because despite the fact that people were driving like , there were very few people on the road and you couldn't see the lane markings, so I got to play it like a video game and weave right through all the timid dorks on the road. Plowed through a couple of snow banks that everyone else was waiting in line to get around, that sort of thing.
Honestly, people need to stop obsessing over safety and looking at their speedometers every second. Your speed should always be just below the point where it feels like you can't control the car. And if you really desperately need to go 60 on the freeway, have the common sense and decency to do it in the right lane.
I saw trucks today doing 50 on the 400 and hogging BOTH the left lanes at the same time doing it. |

When i was driving was later that night when everything froze over again and it was like a skating rink. Otherwise i agree. People are usually way too over cautious now. |

Head south and see how they panic.
They call for an inch or 2 in DC, and all hell breaks loose. EVERYONE runs to the grocery store and cleans out the shelves. IF it snows, there's a good chance school is cancelled, and even if it doesn't (rain instead) there's a good chance it get cancelled too, or a 1-2 hr delay, anyways. As it is, we're allotted a certain amount of school cancellations due to snow, so even if it doesn't end up snowing, school is allowed to close. |

Pretty soon it will be that way here.
When i was a kid they only called storm warnings for 30 cm ++
Otherwise it was just a forecast for snow and everyone went along on their daily business. |
