Production forum?
I think you can make mashups in almost any sound editing program, though, such as Soundforge, Audacity, etc. |

Ableton live is great for mashups...
So simple to mix, house, trance, hip hop, rock or whatever you want right on top of each other... |

SONY ACID pro 5 would be pretty good for this.
(btw i dont know why it is now SONY ACID pro instead of sonic foundry, im figuring that they bought the technology)

| It would be pretty hard to do it with records, trying to make sure the tunes are beatmatched perfectly for 6+ minutes... omg. |

if you are recording a mashup on its own, its actually a piece of piss because you can spend as much time as you want beatmatching it, then you won't have to make too many alterations during the mash-up. your only worry is breakdowns and bridges, where you might have to fade out and re-cue further in or something to get the specific section you want and/or to keep the phrases matched.
doing it within a set is obviously harder, but it gets easier the more you practice. listen to adam beyer - essential underground9 (stockholm), its a perfect example.. there is a vast proportion of that cd which is mash-ups and 3 deck action. |
