Easily - AFAIK Canada didn't send 80 million to some South American country as the result of a club fire.
If I am mistaken, please let me know. |

| i think hes refering to the 80 million figure you stated. i dont think canada would donate 80 million to a country who had a club burn down. |

One might agree that 2nd and 3rd world countries could learn from Canada as it relates to fire & safety standards. |

I wasn't talking about CAnada sending money to Argentina, the whole point of this thread I think was that they closed the clubs in solidarity for the tsunami victims or whatever.... and Canada have donated 80 million to RED CROSS to help the tsunami victims..... |

To makes things clear, Argentina and closing of the clubs absolutely NOTHING To do with the Tsunami's.
From the article
| quote: |
Due to the events of the 30th of December, Maluco integral Beleza as of the Chamber of Nightclubs and Entertainment of the City of Buenos Aires (CEDEBA) wishes to make public it's support with the victims of last week's terrible event and agree with the article it published in citywide and national newspaper that states "the Chamber of Nightclubs and Entertainment of the City of Buenos Aires (CEDEBA) adheres to the national mourning as declared by President, Néstor Kirchner, and the mayor City of Buenos Aires, Aníbal Ibarra. |
The Tsunami's hit on December 26th. The event they are referring to above happened on the 30th. The fires. |

The tsunami happened on Dec 26, they talk about Dec 30 (the day of the fire) in the email - thus I can only conclude that the "time of mourning" was related to the fire. |

a) i think its cool that they have a chamber of nightclubs. I think if we had something similar here we could have prevented the mass hysteria that occurred back in 99/2000 that resulted in the collapse of the rave culture in Toronto.
b) i think that people who are willing to forgo profit in the name of remembering strangers is quite noble. The in-fighting that this very thread has created just shows the contrast in the way we think.
Sure this is Canada but I'd like to see Canada become even better than it is now. Learning from others is a good way to start. |
