Creating kicks

Yeah yeah, i know this has been discussed before and yes i have read all the posts. I have layered beats, i have compressed beats, i have created them in soundforge, i have done everything...

But still i cant seem to be able to create kicks like for instance Gabriel & Dresden can as in As The Rush Comes or In My Memory (G&D Remix), or Perry O'Neill Wave force...

These are kicks which really give their tracks a unique face, u know what the track is by only hearing the kick, i like that.

Wtf am i doing wrong, i tried everythng but my kicks are all cheesy sounding. Why isnt there a software company which creates a kickdrum synth, and not a crappy one like Attack or DrumSyn.

Anyhow what am i doing wrong?

the most unique thing on kicks is what you layer on them. e.g. percussion etc. so mack them "pock" or "peng" ;)

Who seys those drum kicks have to be synthetic? I know making heavy kicks are hard to do. Have you tried using a bass kick as a base to build from?

Pick up a sample CD with dance kicks and tweak it out to your liking. All the pros do it. Nobody will give you crap about it either.

the bass (and pretty much everything else too) can do much to the kick... there is several times where i have fixed a nice heavy kick.. but then i change the bass and it doesn't sound as heavy anymore, so i have to EQ it and compress it and such to make it sound better.

a kick that sounds kinda week can turn out really nice with just the right bass added

hmm i will just have to extend my research @ the studio i guess
