Hey!
Does anyone have some good tips for how to create good sounding trance/house drum patterns?
How do you get the drum patterns moving? How do you edit the sounds?
I´ve read you can edit the velocity values for the hihats and use the shuffle function to get it all moving.
Whats the best drum software where i can make advanced drum patterns and have much control over every sound?
Please explain and give me the best tips for how to create trance/house drum patterns.
Regards

Any of the big midi-sequencers, or fruityloops, will give you enough flexibility in altering velocity values and shuffle quantising and the lot. Shuffle is not too widely used in trance, it gives the beat a "groovy" feel hence is more of a clubbie/disco-housey effect.
Just get a drumkit together and work on a 4 beat loop until you get the sound you are happy with. |

My trademark trick is to string about 4 or five kicks together, some wet and bassy, other's high pitched and dry.
Then i play with the volumes/attack/pitch settings for each one until im left with a cranium crunching bass whack.
I also record material from my drumkit, since im a drummer.
Im going to be hosting samples ive created both in software, and using my dw drum kit on my new web site that will be open in a few weeks. |
