Final Scratch 2? (pg. 2)

Virtual dj is way better, don't be fooled by the price just believe it.

Final scratch was just the first program introduced timecode vinyl, but now is history.
And indeed stanton is a huge company with good marketing, but Atomix is a flexible team and very quick to updates.
Just see for yourself the progress of the program during the latest year

and then look for the final scratch or other programs updates at the same time.
Note.. these updates are free from day one, while you have to pay for final scratch major updates.

The biggest thing is final scratch uses a dedicated soundcard interface setup. VDJ gives you the option of choosing the soundcard you need and you can upgrade later. If you are just mixing and want left and right deck separate ouputs then a standard 4 channel card will do. I fyou are looking for scratvhing then a 4 channel maya will do but the you can go into a pro 8 channel out and go wild which is not available with the final scratch.

Final scratch 2 is just come out and is already behind.

btw... i buy cds then rip them to the pc.

Well thanks guys for the replies, I didn't even know of SSL, but now I do :)

Also about the downloading issue. I didn't mean to say getting Final Scratch will put an end to buying recordss. I have like thousands of MP3s on my computer that I've collected before getting into mixing. For me to go and purchase every record would cost me and arm and leg, way more than Final Scratch or SSL. However mixing a great set on MP3 first allows you to be selective as to which records you want to buy, I love buying records, but I want to make sure I can make use of them 100% right away; not every record can be mixed together flawlessly.

I'm using DJDecks, it's similar to FinalScratch and uses it's vinyl. Very good solution and costs very unexpensive, much more cheaper than original FS.

the only problem with virtual dj is that it dosnt have a phono pass through.... so you have have to disconnect the phono cable on the tt and plug it into the mixer if you want to play a vinyl track.

with the maya 44 usb u can do that couse i do it all the time.

more than likely not.

I will guess that you WONT have a problem becuase the powerbook is apple, and since apple controls all the types of controllers (your firewire being the one in question) it is most likely the same one they used to test fs2 on the apple systems...

now if stanton was lame (and they might be) and tested fs on a apple tower with a 3rd party firewire card then u might be in trouble.... but i seriously doubt that happened.

anyways... dont quote me on this. :p

good point, thanks. :)

I don't really understand the appeal of Final Scratch (other than 24 bit file support) when SSL works great and Rane is known for their awesome customer support. Doesn't it make sense to bet on the winning horse?

I have a 17in Powerbook and SSL. It works awesome!
