a normal been of light has a wide cone am i right? when you shine a torch it spreads out over a larger area weakening. if you shined a torch to the moon ebcause of the incredible distance the touch weould shine over a diameter of about 250 000 km. because lazers are just accellerated light, the beam doesnt spread enough over short distances, whereas if you pointe dit at the moon after 300 000 km it would spread over 5km. nasa used this technique to send messages to the moon lander back in the days when moon landing are around, because a normal light signal would be far too faint to pick up with their equiptment. i dont know of any site it jsut among the general knowledge crap have. hehe :D peace |
