J, have I told you lately that you're my hero? Seriously, you are. Anyone who recognizes the importance of the stripper pole has their head on right. A stripper pole is like beads, it will make girls go wild. I am not sure why, but it's true.
Hot brunettes are the tops. Free alcohol is the tops. Hot brunettes handing out free alcohol is a sensory overload -- Another good call.
Foam machines have the same effect as stripper poles. Throw a combination of the two together and you have the makings of a porno.

I hope your basement is huge in order to accomodate enough people for a party.
Just get some strobes, a few rotating color ball things, and you are all set for lights. Then get two fairly big monitor speakers.

No. monitors are for monitoring by the DJ. The last thing you want the crowd to hear is the monitors...they lack bass response, and you can't push them very hard.
Even a set of "home stereo" tower speakers would be much better for broadcasting the sound.
And the basement doesn't necessarily have to be that large. |

This is what I would do if that was my basement. For the dancefloor you could have that pergo fake wood installed. It is very sturdy and resists scratches, scuffs, etc. + it looks real. There are a variety of wood tone colors to choose from.
TV in corner, DJ booth in the little square part with 3 shelves for vinyl and CD storage + whatever else you might have. You look out towards the dancefloor and the TV from behind the decks. You could hook all the speakers (even the TV ones) up to the mixer and vice versa so the sound comes from all directions while DJ'ing and watching tv (kind of like surround sound). |
