Oh wow ... all those people are going to come down and revitalize our hotdog stand industry ... I'm so incredibly excited. Particularly since all these visiting s are going to completely clog the roadways, forcing myself, and every other industry in the DC metro area to unproductively leave early, wasting hundreds of thousands of dollars as a byproduct, just to get home at a reasonable hour. I for one, am so greatful to use my local tax dollars, that I thought would be spent on "useful" initiatives such as education or crime, are in fact being spent on making sure the President's congratualtions party will go off without a hitch.

Haha. That's so true. Those stands are the only places to eat in the government section of D.C., other than the congressional cafeterias. I stayed down there a few times when lobbying and had to walk all the way to Chinatown to eat at the Chinese TGI Fridays or Chinese Texas BBQ. At least there's always plenty of condiments and disposable cameras available on those carts!

On a serious note, I think Northern Virginia will be reaping the rewards of the influx of money from guests. Georgetown will be the only place in the city that guests will probably stay. Wouldn't it be nice to have that kind of money?

Yea k street is going to be way too snooty for most people. The inaugural people are going to be no better than the lemmings that come to see the national mall so I don't have high expectations for them.

Yes arlington will kick ass with respect to this. It's somewhat significant to note that virginia tax dollars != DC or MD tax dollars but I'm sure many will fail to realise this. Georgetown will probably do well because it's on embassy row primarily but I'm not holding my breath. Furthermore it's only one quadrant of the city. Id rather have the celebration in NY or some ohther such city ...

I'm ignoring the stereotype and I'll refrain from casting any aspersions in regards to the compulsive ignorance of New Yorkers. ;)

The per capita income in DC is way above that of NY.

It's a puny 61 sq. miles in size and you have to know where to look because the wealth certainly isn't all concentrated in Georgetown.

Here's a few links to a few nice homes I pulled up in a quick search:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

This doesn't include NoVa (Fairfax being the wealthiest in the US - per capita) or Chevy Chase, Bethesda, Rockville, or Potomac, Md.

Your mama, DC!

What terrorist attack? You don't need that stinkin' money, DC! What, you don't like diverting funds to fit this President's cause (like that's anything new for the Republicans anyway)?

Tough you damn overwhelming Democratic majority!

Beautiful.

The majority of people in DC voted for Gore and Kerry in the past two elections. :D

Maybe Shrub holds a grudge?

DC's unemployment rate is about 3.7%

NYC's unemployment rate is about 7%

As far as crime, I think you're thinking about DC's high homicide rates. Otherwise, the other crime rates aren't far from New York's. So, it's logical to say that if you're not getting killed you have to little to worry about. LOL

Anyway, DC gets more Trance DJ's now that your club scene has shrivelled up.

Go ahead and bask in your ignorance - this is America so you have every right to be stupid. :D
