What things in life have influenced you and what you are as a person the most?
Person: My Gf, Amy. I have been with her nearly 2 years now. Before her i had only been with 2 girls, both of which cheated on me after 2 months. She has stuck with me through a years depression and many other hard times...i really do no know what i'd do without her.
Movie: The Butterfly affect. This film has made me realise how every action you do affects the lives other people around you. So think what you do before you do it...because you're writing history.
Song 1: Kansas - Dust in the wind. Makes you realise that no matter what happens in life... you will end up in a box in the ground. So is it all worth worrying about?
Song 2: Sinatra - My Way. You may be ending up in a box in the ground...but there are many paths to that box...some will get you there quicker, others will be harder...you have to choose the path that YOU want to follow. |

growing up outside the USA...I tell ya, I wouldn't have had it any other way. I'd hate to have some of the views and "ideas" that born and bread states kids have these days. It's not a generalization for those here, not a diss, just some Americans, you have to say are just plain stupid and inconsiderate. Plus we elected Bush for a second term. :haha:
plus, drugs. wow did they open up my mind when i first started taking them. its a great state of mind - "ed up..." isn't it?

What's influenced my life?
Religion/Culture/Family: Dealing with Christianity had been quite traumatising for me since my early childhood, because of its concept of guilt and my parents' attitude. I felt a great pressure, both from my family and society not to be (much) different from what was expected to be (and unfortunately, I was, from my musical taste to the way I dealt with life). My interest for Buddhism used to be a problem to me, back when I was 9 years old, for example, and I often had trouble for living a sheltered life. During my teenage years I learned important lessons (whose adolescence isn't sad anyway :p), and I try not to do to others what had been done to me.
Buddhism, among other philosophies, helped me a lot as well. My parents, on the other hand... I still need to learn how to deal with them.
Films: ing Amal, for example, has made me an even more tolerant person, although I reckon I've still got a long road to walk :)
Military School: 7 years there must've had an impact :D
Friends/lovers: Once again, the obvious :p Probably the person who had the first major impact in my life was some Russian girl who could be labelled as a "High-school crush". Gorgeous, in my opinion, she was even more depressed than I was, and during our first date (which happened to be my actual 1st proper date ever, and in our birthday's week), she told me about her life, how she fancied some married men in the past, and how she had tried to commit suicide three times up to that day (needless to say, I felt like killing myself as well after that). Fast foward some months (although we never had anything other than friendship due to many reason), she had learned about myself more than I could ever imagine, and her words during our pseudo-break-up taught me a lot about myself.
Apart from that, there's this other friend of mine who has always inspired me, and brought me confidence. And this other friend of mine... he didn't know what to do in university, I offered myself to take the test with him, he failed, I passed and now I love that course :D
My 2nd group of friends: A couple of years ago I had met a huge amount of people from a "recreational club". This was the first time I had actually felt great friendship from people from my own country, which somehow had a great influence to me as well. The help they gave me when I tried to get a scholarship to Japan has made me a happier person ever since, as I actually felt what it's like to have real friends. It was during this wave of happiness that I met my current girlfriend (who ironically didn't belong to that group), whose importance is just too great to be described :)
TA: Countless things I've learned from TA's. Arbiter, Fundamental, Jackson, Elena, Nukleuz, Renegade, Krooton, Sothis, Ishkur... they're too many to mention, but it doesn't make them less important.
I could go on and on, but I'm a bit short of time today :p |

1. definitely trance music. my bf thinks i'm crazy when i tell him that trance helped get me away from depression and sadness. the music you listen to really influences the way you feel sometimes.
2. my mom. she's the coolest lady ever.
3. my ex-boyfriend. i dated him from age 15 thru 20, and as much as we disagree on certain things, he definitely helped to shape me into the person i am today.
4. moving from NY to WI when i was 18. pretty self explanatory, it was the best thing i ever did.
5. mdma (i can't say all drugs because the other ones i've done didn't really do to influence me). it was the first drug i ever did, so it really opened my mind to things that i never thought about before. it also helped get rid of my social anxiety disorder completely.
6. my friend in California. he helped me to realize i was strong enough to get out of a relationship i didn't want to be in anymore. just by knowing him and seeing how he lived life gave me such happiness and a positive attitude on life. |
