Philadelphia night clubs

I am turning 21 in a couple weeks and realise that a lot of the night clubs in Philly, you have to be atleast 21 to even get in. I was just wondering if there are any out there that are really nice and from time to time have a DJ who spin any type of trance/techno or other good EDM.

Emerald City is a big late night spot in Northern Liberties. It gets some big acts usually once a month (I've seen Timo, Nu NRG, Acosta, amd Scumfrog just to name a few), but it also has a lot of good local DJs on a regular basis. Its open til 3:30 and serves until 3:00 which is nice.

Lounge 125 is also a late night spot located in Old City. Its more of a house music scene and can be a pain in the ass to get in because the bouncers at the door like to hold up the line forever if you don't get there real early.

Fluid is a little spot on south street that can be a lot of fun. Pappas brought in Schulz there back in December which was just sick and I'm sure you saw the Steve Porter thread for Feb 2.

There are some other spots around like Tribecca but its kind of sketchy. Its right next to Port Richmond. And I'm sure you know about Tranist with Deepdish this weekend. That place sucks unless its a special event though.

Hope this helps!

depends on what you like...if you like really commmercial trance, then emerald city is the spot for you...watch out for DJ tommyboy...he drops year-old cheesy , and if that's your thing, you have your new home...

now if yuo like really good subtle ambient proggy trance, then i suggest Fluid...dj mark pappas, a good man and even better DJ, would provide beautiful music to suit your needs...Fluid was my second home when I stayed in Philly, and it will be yours, too...

Only problem with Fluid is that the best nights tend to be on the weekdays IMO. So depending on your work/school schedule and how far away you live, that can make it a little difficult to make it out to some of those events.

I'm in Norristown. Not too far from the city at all. And I am a nightowl. Will stay out till 2am and go into work at 8:30, not a big deal to me. I make up all my sleep on Sundays. :D

very true...so it comes down to a choice of either making a sacrifice for quality, or merely settling with because that's what's convenient...

Theres a lot to be said for convenience. Trying to get people together to come out during the week can be a bitch too.

go to fluid on wednesday and youll meet regulars that travel from princeton and even delaware...they go for the music...if you want it that badly, youll make amends...
DOOMBOT
Sounds like Fluid is the place to be. Do you all go there yourselves?

I used to be a regular when I went to school in Philly...I'll probably stop by in the end of February to catch a Josh Wink set who, btw, is a monthly resident there the last wednesday of every month...

if you are 21 before Feb. 2nd definitely stop by for Steve Porter's "Homegrown" CD Release tour kicking off right here in Philly at Fluid! Also this monthly which is every first Wednesday of the month will host the top international/national progressive headliners. So defintely always mark that day down on your calender. Come on out on the 2nd and say what's up!
