So when I was out a few days ago, one of my brothers got onto the computer and managed to up my internet connection somehow. Without success I tried to fix it, so I reinstalled XP and chose the "repair" option. Now this is what I get when booting it:

I tried "repairing" it again without success. Any suggestions to get around this? I've got so many programs installed on this so I really can't afford to lose it all but it seems I may have to.
Thanks |

| No, but there isn't actually anything wrong with either hard drive. The (now damaged) installation was on the E: and I have an earlier installation on the C: which I am using just now and it reads all hard drives fine. I could always use this one but I have been using the other installation since December 2003 so it includes all the programs I have installed in that period which is a lot. |

if i've read ur post correctly the damaged windowds installation is on the E: drive? if so here's the fix:
switch on your computer and start in DOS Mode.
enter this command: chkdsk \p
anytime i got the blue screen that fixed it for me. in saying that i dont have a partioned HD so when u enter that command it might ask you to specify which partition to check.
if that works once u get back into windows run the defragmentor program to avoid it happening again. good luck |
