| I don't know about AZ, but if you're coming to So Cal, let me know and I'll show you the best there are around Orange County. I'd love to play everywhere you'd want to, pending your cashflow so just let me know. |

There are quite a number of "classy" courses down there that play for +/-100 bucks during the right times. There is a TPC coure in Scottsdale and several resort/courses all over PHX. If you are simply looking for cheap golf...the municipal courses are pretty nice...especially for March. Look into where they play the Battle of Bighorn ...I think you can play that course at night..it's got lights (as seen on TV when tiger plays there in primetime) It's got to be around PHX somewhere. There are 2 or 3 par 3 courses that have the lights too for night play...and they are like 10 bucks to play.

That should get you a good look of what's actually down there. |

You're right about TPC at Scottsdale, but if you want the good rates, you will have to wait until the dead hot middle of the summer months to play for cheaper. Any TPC course has its primetime months green fees and its summer months green fees.
About the Battle at Bighorn, Bighorn CC is in Palm Desert, not AZ. Also, you will NEVER get to play Bighorn much less even get in the gates at Bighorn unless you have a house in that community or you're going to watch the actual BAB or you have a family member that owns a house in that community. If you're coming to the Palm Springs/Indio area to play, make sure you hit up as many PGA West courses as possible. I've played all of them excluding the Greg Norman course and they provide some of the best golf in So Cal. If you come in Spring, you won't be able to play any of the PGA West courses because they rape you on prices. If that's the case, go to Indio and hit up Landmark Golf Club. 36 holes and awesome golf for the price. Landmark is the course where the Skins Game is held every year and it's probably the best bang for the buck around Palm Springs. |

Yarrr....thanks for the correction...You know, being from Montana & the PacNW, anything south of Idaho/Oregon all looks the same to me. We play golf about 3 months a year out here....but we do have some championship Fazio and Nicklaus courses that are pretty wicked. But flying south to Vegas, PHX or SoCal for some winter time golf is fun...but yeah..it's the 'on' season there so it's expensive. I forgot about that part...since it was a balmy -26 the other day :) |
