Do the bad guys ever win in movies?

I think that it's total bull how the good guy always wins in movies and gets the girl or gets his revenge or catches his criminal or whatever:rolleyes: :whip:  :wtf: How does the movie industry do so well when the movies are all so predictable? Why do people keep on watching movies which have such obvious endings? Whats the point of watching a movie if you already know whats going to happen eventually? This is all bull and I really don't know what the point is:rolleyes: At one point in every movie the good guy comes close to losing and then always pulls it out in the end.

Hollywood should be a little more creative when making movies and have the bad guys win sometime and the good guys win sometimes as well instead of having such a one sided thing going on especially in a world where the good guys doesn't always win in real life.
I really thought that Robert DiNiro was going to win in Heat over Al Pachino when he was home free and only had to go to the airport but came back to kill some guy who killed his friend which was bull because he had it won and should have won instead of dying in the end!!!!!!!! Bull!!!bull!!!!!!!

I for one am tired of watching the same repeatative bull and would like to see some movies where the bad guy wins so if you know of any then let me know:D

The only ones I can think of are Seven, The Ring, Secret Window, Hannibal and a few horror movies where they are usually setting it up for a sequel. Anyone know of any more movies where the bad guy or guys win?

It does so well bc ppl go to see movies almost just as much (often more) to see the actors and actresses as well as the plot... i know ppl who check out flicks for the special effects alone. IMO, there is more to seeing a movie then a predictable plot... and even if the plot is predictable and ur sure how it, the movie, shall end... u dont know all the sequences of events that will lead up to it (tho certain ones become very likley as u watch and prolly u can guess whut'll happen next. All this isnt to say that they couldnt be more creative and switch it up, just explaining why this "predictabiliyt" doesnt harm the industry per se

Ppl like their happy endings... so do i... im never satisfied when the good guy dies in the end (unless it was the bad bad i was identifying with and not the good guy)... i always wanan see my main characters that i like live thru the end... when they die... its not the same... i simiply dont enjoy the flick as much bc of the sad , less than ideal (to me) ending!

In Troy, i knew it was coming and had to happen, but i was so annoyed with Brad Pit's character died... i dont even like Mr. Pitt(infact, i really dislike brad pit as an actor in general), but his n charcter facinated/intruiged me... esp. the way he fought... i wanted to see him pull thru...

So i dunno... yes im boring and prolly no one will agree w/ me, but i like the predictible happy endings... where i want my variety is in whut happens thruout the movie... thats whut makes me love a flick (well, that and the actors involved... certain actors, if it wasnt for them, imo, i would have never seen or enjoyed the movie! the mere "prescence" of certain actors or actresses really can influence how i take a movie)

EDIT: I love getting to know the characters. its why i read novels (fiction and fantasy) and watch evening drama tv shows so much, bc i care about characters and wanna see whut happens to them... i dont care about the ending... its all the interactions, etc. of the characters that captures me!

LOL - I think it's time to grow up and watch movies which don't have clearly defined good and bad guys, and maybe you won't have to deal with the problem of good always winning over evil.

Good triumphing over bad isn't a hollywood concept, it's been around a lot longer then that. It's just something most people walk away from happy after having paid $13 to sit through a 2 hour movie. Hollywood is about making money, not telling unique stories. Want something different, i suggest you start by looking elsewhere.

Having said that, there are quite a few movies produced in Hollywood which don't have the cliched endings...not all of them are great, and i'd even say that Bad vs Good where Bad wins is sometimes predictable as well.

- Secret Window
- Identity
- Saw
- Fallen
- Fight Club
- Arlington Road
- Primal Fear
- Devils Advocate

I'm sure there are quite a few more out there that i'm forgetting. Hollywood is all about cliche's, cause most people dont' want to hear a story that is different, or doesn't have such extremes ( in that regard they are not unlike childern who only want to hear tales of dragons and wicked witches ).

SpyKids

great movie.

true, most are pretty predictable..
but it's also true that you don't go to see a movie just for its ending.. so big deal you can figure it out ..

it's like saying you never watch movies you like again cause you know what's up--

Althouuuuugh I do too hate happy endings haha and the good guys winning - I like the bad guys, they're the coolest :p :p

But there's a lot of unpredictable, original films, so look them up.

Thelma and Louise.

Harold and Maude.

Not necessarily "bad guys", but a "not happy" ending.
