i keep my records in the basement... there's a washer and dryer down there, and it can get a LITTLE damp... but i have de-humidifier down there ... anyhows, my records are starting to kinda bend... i dont know if i havce to many stacked in each crate... and sometimes they'll lean on each other and there might be a littel bit too much weight, or if the air down there is causing this ...
what would you recomment me doing? should i keep them upstairs... how many records per crate do u keep in there ?? and if there bent a little bit, is it ok to bend back ??? thanks... |

Optimally a crate should be packed so that all the vinyl are standing straight up. Never stack them horizontally ever. If you have half a crate, it is good to keep them as vertical as possible by either slightly leaning them against the side or putting something in the space where there is no records in order to push them all vertical.
A little warping never hurt anything except can be a pain in the ass with over-gripping or under-gripping on the slip.
Hope that helps. |

One other thing....
I am not sure how much heat is generated by a washer and dryer. I do know I have been in some people's washrooms that were ridiculously hot -- the one at my house is well A/Ced so I don't know. Be careful of all heat sources.
Leaning records + warm environment = quickened warping |
