In modern dance music you just can't escape the super star DJ image. In this light I have a question for you, Who do you think is the most over rated DJ?

I'm probably gonna get a lot of flak for this but in my oppinion it's Paul Okenfold.

What do you peeps think?

After Oakies blinding EM i couldnt possibley say him, although i think picotoo is going downhill fast (jokes). Well most overated dj, after months of listening has to go to dave pearce after his shocking mixes on his weekday show

Err you do know that the mixing in his week day show isn't done by him don't you? They actually employ somone to do it for him

Yeah, Ill Back That One. I Saw Dave Pearce Live @ TallTrees Not To Long Ago, And No Joke - I Can Mix Better. He Was Failing To Keep Beats Whilst Mixng. Very Poor !

Well i suppose he is getting a little lazy, u learn something new everyday
Gekhous
i know a lot of ppl will hate me for saying this, but Johan Gielen...

together with Svenson, he can produce some nice tracks, but he makes 2 much errors spinning, and the "show" he gives away while ing up his set, horrible, i still wake up at night, sweating, with the images of him spinning at Impulz Outdoor on my mind... THE HORROR!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree cuz i saw him at Eden in Ibiza and he blew the roof off the place, he was wikkid. And as for his Radio Show he doesnt actually do any of the mixing on that 'cept for bout 20mins on his sunday show towards the end when he plays his own favs of the week.

Peace :D

Dave Pearce is pretty ly rated which is good he plays cheese if I can put it that way, he may have an occasional good set, but I can't actually get my head round to respect someone who spins Ian Van Dahl - castles in the sky thats cheese and he's to blaim why a lot of cheesy trance is around. roll another one fat one you fat ! lol

Oh and getting back to the thread subject I used to think Oakenfold was overated my cousin who lived in Scouseville (liverpool) used to rant on about his sets on the courtyard there all the time @ Cream, and I used to be like yeah he's ok, I saw him at GCSS and he was ok not to bad but that EM on saturday was ing wicked, and my views totally changed on him, and I see a lot of anti Oakie crew on here being Quiet for once hahahahah.

My overated Dj has to be John Digweed I like most of Sashas stuff but I find Digweed very boring for some reason but thats just my opionion, theres 10000s out there who rate him but I just can't bring myself round to like his style and see why some many people like him.

if you're referring to the fading and scratching then i don't know if i would really call those errors. i just tend to think that he loves to experiment around during his sets and thats why i love it when he spins. having said that though, his mixing definitely isn't seemless to say the least but thats not just johan gielen. there are many other famous dutch/belgian/british DJ's that don't mix perfectly every set either.

I have to disagree with you on that one, I saw Gielen here in Toronto last month and he was just awesome. It was such a small party(less than 100 people), but he made all of us unite into a blissful and euphoric crowd. You really felt his passion for the music, along with an awesome tracklist. It was a great night, until Tiesto overshadowed it 9 days later!

I personally think Oakie is overrated, I know alot of people regained some respect for him after his EM, but to be honest that EM didn't do it for me. He played alot of older songs, and that's exactly what he gets bashed for. Not to mention when he mixed into PPK, that was not the best mix. Oakie = Overrated.

I also think Scott Bond and JFK both get a hell of alot more credit than they deserve.
