Upon purchasing FL Studio 5.0, i realized that drum synth live is an extra feature that costs more money. And I am flat broke after ordering motherboard until my next check so, do any of you know of any good tools to come up with some percussion, for free? |

You don't need a drumbox to do good percussion. Eq, compression, and the step sequencer are your best friends. |

So your saying just use samples? |

Yeah use samples. Combine different ones to create some new kicks. |

yea samples is the way to go. i dont like drum synths at all. make a new track and add as mant kicks you want. eq them compress them... set the volumes of each one where you want them and you have a new bassdrum, export it and use it. you can also do it with congas snares hihats blah blah blah.
btw care to tell me about fl5? is the anything new really worth it? |

Yup, you should check it out. I switched from Cubase to FL5. |

So far the only big differences is that you can use a midi controller and you can add lenghthy samples (ie vocals) which much more control. Also I think automation is much better, but i haven't experimented much with that |

Check the sticky in this forum. Lots of links to samples.
Also, you could always use a midi controller in FL Studio, so thats not new. |

The new way to add automation tracks is just brilliant. You get so much more control now than before, and editing the automation data is done in a couple of secs! :D Excellent! |

Check out Dorumalaia's (sp?) Superdrums8000. He has the kicks organized to where you can easily combine them to create some nice new ones. TONS of other samples too; highly recommended. |
