I'm first... So here goes.
I got there just before 2, and the place was just beginning to fill up. The crowd got much thicker by 3am, but NOTHING like last week for Satoshi, or New Years! It was actually nice to have a good amount of space to dance. And dance I did!
Let me tell you that Sean dropped some serious beats! His sound is impossible to label, and that's what makes him awesome. He played harder than last week, and got the crowd nicely pumped for Kenny.
The highlight of the night was that I got to meet some awesome TA's!! Floorwhore, Little John (Happy B-Day)& more...
TA's sure know how to dance! Including Floorwhore! He definitely stays true to that name. Props...... you whore. :)
Anyway, I left early to come home and prepare for the radio show.. Responsibility cut things a little short this time :whip:, but it was still an awesome night. Sorry Kenny for missing your set... Next time.
Boa: Wicked vibe as usual, you're the bomb. Thank you.
Cheers,
Greg.
PS: How was Kenny??! What have I missed? |

Thanks, Guys/Girls |

Yet another excellent night at Boa! It doesn't seem possible, but this place just keeps getting better & better. Sean Miller was at his finest & set the mood perfectly for Kenny who kept them pumping deep into the night (morning?) Totally effortless dancing!
Great to see so many familiar faces on the floor, including Sean himself who stayed to enjoy Kenny's beats with the rest of us! (What an amazing guy & so down-to-earth!) FLOORWHORE, it was great breaking the beats with you yet again... you certainly know how to put the moves together, although I still maintain you learned everything you know from watching me!! (Heehehee... after all, I am the older one! :tongue3)
Neways, gotta run... Rest, relax & refuel cause in only one short week we get to do it all over again! ;)

This was the best resident night ive ever been a part of. I had mixed feelings about throwing Sean and Kenny together in the same room but they pulled it off tremendously. |
Worst review ever.

After Chemistry Funk w/ Phil Weeks and Amir Javasoul the night before i didnt think i'd have much left in the tank. Even with that being realised i couldnt help myself from going all out for this one.
I started the night out meeting up with my buddy Steve, along with John (B-day boy), Steph and her sister Lauren. The place was quite slow to get moving in the early stages, and seemed even more so seeing as the last two events were just massive. We spent the first hour of the night feeling out the tunes layed down by Sean Miller. We also popped in the lounge to give respect to Mischief and Frankie who were starting off their official residency in the lounge. Great tunes layed down by the boys, and might i add an AMAZING cd they put together for this! We chilled down there for a bit, but decided to hit the main room to see how things were developing.
What a difference 15 minutes makes. The place at this point was LIVE!! Everyone just going nuts on the dancefloor. It wasnt packed at this point, but everyone in attendence was up off their asses, groovin to the dirty sleeve pumpin from the speakers. I was wondering how Sean and Kenny's sounds would work back to back seeing as they both have totally different sounds. Sean adjusted slightly, leaning more towards the dirty techy house for the majority of his set. He pounded out the massive sounds from 3:00-4:00 including a couple of tracks from his latest mix "Afterhours". I havent seen that much energy from him behind the decks in a long time, if not ever. This guy feeds off the crowd, and when they're into it, so is he. The last half hour, eased up a little and closed the set nicely.
From the second he dropped his first record of the night it was apparent which Kenny showed up for this one. It was the twisted dirty KG with a twist of tribal. This is the sound i remember hearing from him on the rare occasion i made it out to CZ over the years. He tweaked his sound to compliment Sean's set playing a lot less techno than we've been used to from his first few sets as a resident at Boa. In the early stages he threw down "Drop the Beat", and that pretty much set the tempo for the rest of the night. The versatility delivered by this guy is tough to match, and is showed when he can open for a dj like Stacey Pullen one week, and then one like Miller the next. He got pretty relentless towards the end of the set, and by 8:30 i was pooched and had inventory in 5 hours - so i left.
I should add the lounge was bumpin as usual, M & F ripped it and Phil Weeks even made a special appearance! From what i heard of Mr.Weeks, he was even better than the night before. If only the air quality was better in the lounge, id be able to enjoy myself down there for longer periods of time. But due to my "non-smoker" lungs, i can only handle so much of that room.
This kind of night just proves you dont need a "big-name dj" for it to be an amazing night. Unfortunately, too many people overlook our own talent in the city and dont show enough interest in our own residents. Amazing night though, lots of room to dance, and the ladies were out in full force on the dancefloor (Steph, Lauren, Yvonne, Brie, Leah, Tina, and Kat were prime examples! - wow.) |
