thanks for all the suggestions.

i was wondering if i should get contacts for a pretty long time because of several reasons. i'm in high school now so i often play sports and many times i broke my glasses playing basketball or soccer. (once drunk but yeah) i hate having to take care while playing sports and stuff. but im not sure if i should get contacts because my eyes are a little sensitive and i often rub my eyes, even without meaning to. i dont know if ill just make my eyes worse by wearing it. ive been wearing glasses for such a long time (like ten years) so i dont know what i should do. appearancewise do you ever notice ppl who normally wore glasses until one day they come in contacts and they look all weird? i dont know if it'll affect my appearance enough to disturb me. so im still :conf:

get out of the dark ages and get contacts. you are too young for lasik. there are definitely risks but if you wear your style of contacts correctly, you will be fine.

i find that my vision is better with contacts. it is because the position of the glasses lenses can shift in front of your eye easier.

one downside is taht they are more expensive. but for $200 a year, it is worth it to be able to see better.

glasses can be a pain but they protect you from getting poked in the eyes and raise your iq. :toocool:

I had big problems after about 10 years of wearing gas permeable lenses (hard lenses), they completely dried by eyes out and it was very uncomfortable wearing them, but I was dependant on them and had to suffer wearing them. Luckily by this time I could get soft lenses on my prescription, which last me about a year before I need a new pair.

hard lenses give you better vision but soft lenses are better for your eyes. i dont know if they even prescribe hard lenses to new wearers anymore. in order to wear hard lenses, your eye has to develop a callous.

the shorter wear lenses are generally more comfortable but the longer term ones tend to work better. i have monthlies and i am really happy with them.

my perscription isnt very strong but it is really screwy and i went through several prescriptions and brands of lenses before i found something that i was happy with.

Actually, contacts really depend on the person wearing them. I started wearing gas permeable contacts when I was 9 years old and they are great, I love them. My doctor once made me try the soft lenses and I hated them. It really depends on what works for you. Contacts are waaay better than glasses because it stops your vision from getting worse. Ever since I started using them, my vision is increasingly better. I am 23 years old now and hopefully 3 years from now I won't need them anymore :D
I don't believe much in Lasik Surgery, since it appears to only work for myopia, and even then, you might have to get it some years after that. So if you have astigmatism, don't even think about it.

That would probably be better because they are more prone to falling out of the eye for whatever reason, especially like me, back in school when I first started wearing them at 8 years old.

That must be good not to have to mess around with them and glasses as well all your life.

my dad had a stigmatism and he got it done. his nearsightedness is all fixed now but he still has to wear glasses for his far sightedness. on the other hand, even if you wear contacts you would have to wear additional glasses for your farsightedness, so that doesnt really make a difference.

but i am too much of a scardey cat to let people poke around my eye with a laser. i am perfectly happy with my contacts. i have completely learned to deal with the fact that i will never have 20/20 vision...

I've been wearing contacts since the 4th grade, and for the most part, they are better than glasses. I also have Flexon glasses, which I wear when I take my contacts out. It doesn't matter if I fall asleep with those glasses on, they always bend back. I would also suggest Renu eye solution for your contacts, it helps keep them moisturized, and if definetly worth the extra money. Don't buy generic solution, my eye doctor said that the generic brands are a poor quality and can damage your eyes.

Here's a funny story about my contacts:
A couple of times when I have been playing my trumpet and staring at my music for an abnormally long time, I blink, and then the contackt tears. Sometimes in several pieces. Lesson: Don't stare untill you eyes go dry and then blink. The contact tearing doesn't hurt, its just irritating when you need to get the pieces out of your eye.
