DJ Vagabond - Game On!

Hey all...

Well, I just started in on the trance/techno scene from the production side. A little ruthless on the sleep  seeing as I did this track for about 16 hours straight to get it decent, then another 4 hours of tweaks and new lines.

Anyways, what I really would like is comments/crits/suggestions on how to make this a better track :D

Track Info:

COMPLETION STATUS:80% (Work In Progress)

Style: Video Game BGM/Hard Techno
Title: Game On! (A tribute to 90's action video games)
Artist: DJ Vagabond
Length: 3:26
Bitrate: 320 kbps
Stereo: Yes (fully equalized)

Description: This track was originally to see if I could transpose a theme into FruityLoops from MIDI (the theme in question comes in at 1:48. I would credit the original composer of the theme but there is no encoded author info or name attached to the file), then I started building arpeggios and chord progressions before and after it and before I knew it I, I had a bassline going and then the kick and the whole thing came together for me. It started to sound a LOT like CastleVania music from the NES and SNES games and some other action game themes, hence I decided that instead of tweaking the synths, I would leave them sounding 90's synth'd. I personally think it adds effect and body to the track :D

I would appreciate your comments, suggestions, criticisms (as long as they are somewhat mature), etc

By the way... this also qualifies as my first "release" on TranceAddicts

Haha, fun song. Not my style at all, but it sounds like what it seems you were going for. The percussion is all very minimal, dunno if that was intended. I dunno, it's hard to critique because I have no frame of reference, so congrats for a rather original track.

New version up.

Adjusted kick drum for more oomph, redid some of the snare work, and volume adjusted the bassline a tiny bit

It sounds allright, I'm not that familiar with this kind of music. Don't know what to comment really. You should know this better than me :)
For your first tune you did a good job.

Quote: A tribute to 90's action video games <-- I think this would fit in Mega Man or something!

Well, I'll see where the future takes me in relation to more game music. This was my first real track that I felt good enough to release :D and I'm still working on it :D
