Report: U.S. Conducting Secret Missions Inside Iran (pg. 2)

I'm trying to understand why we would even bother to give merit to the response from the Pentagon regarding this report. Do you really think that they're going to come out and say, "okay, the report was right, we have been conducting SECRET missions..." ?
Elsewhere in the news, Rumsfeld has just admitted that he gave the orders to abuse the inmates at Abu Ghraib, and that he personally wants to serve the full 10 years in which Spc. Charles Graner was just sentenced. :rolleyes: |

What difference would it make if the Pakanistani government did hand over Abdul Quadeer Khan..it means nothing..the americans know all about his activities anyway..and im pretty sure have questioned him allready with the full consent of President Musharraf
Dont forget Musharraf came to power because of a military coup..and arguably is a dictator..he wasnt democraticaly elected and has no plans soon for an election..one of the most ironic things that came out of 9/11 imo was the fact that before 9/11 the americans did call him (or just short of a dictator) unelected..and refused to recognoise the legitimicy of his government...3 days after 9/11 he was referred to by the americans as President Musharraf because they wanted the cooperation of the pakistanis in tracking down the Taliban leaders including Osama Bin Laden..he is still called President Musharraf by the americans..although many governments including my own dont recognoise him as the legitimate leader of a democracy..but all of this is now blurred by the fact that the americans need his cooperation. |
It was a smart strategic move. You have to pick your battles. Besides, going into Afganistan - it's a lot better to have Paki's on your side than against you. Double standard? YOU BETCHA! But when were the politicos honest and fair? Just remember: "All is fair in war and politics" <--- that was the original saying before people bastardized it :D |

| Going after Iran isn't necessary. Now many of your favorite liberal medias wont report this, but for many years now the young generation of Iran has grown increasingly militant in its fight for a democratic Iran. The war in Iraq only accelerated this movement. Now I am happy that the U.S. is carrying out secret missions. We need to know where their nuclear programs are. We can't allow them to be operational. We all definately don't want that to happen. So we must be willing to do whatever it takes to prevent that and I know Bush is of the same attitude. So is Israel. Now the goal is to just prevent Iranian nuclear missiles long enough for the revolution to take place in Iran. Hell, who do you think the Bush inaugural speech was directed to? |

Iran can have nuked just like any other country in this world.You wanna get rid of nukes then get rid of them all including your own. |

| Since one year commandos circulate in Iran. After will they find a pretext sufficient that they could not find with Iraq? Nothing is sure. The nuclear question will be in the heart of the debate. |

Don't you worry, I know their defects, and I find this regim horrible, I wish that there not exist any more. But we can establish a stable democracy only if the consensus is done also inside, to be able to set up effective countervailing powers against the integrists. If the strenght was sufficient, it will be really really different... :( |
