ok. i just got a pair of monitors 1 was brand new and the other was a demo at the shop... exept that one just blew up. my question is what makes a speaker such as this (krk rockit 5's in this case) blow?
like do they have to be played at certain volume levels before it tears up whatever is inside them? |

were you putting your mixer into the red? Distortion blows speakers easily.
most monitors have a "clip" lght to let you know you need to back off on the volumes a bit.. check the warranty, my yorkvilles came with a 1 year no questions asked...

| nothing was in the red. im starting to think that the people who used this at the shop turned it up way louder than should be, cause the brand new speaker is perfectly fine. |

| I would just take it back to the shop and either ask for your money back or an exchange for a new, factory sealed monitor. |
