| the definition of this phrase would be something along the lines of, "whether one wants to or not," or perhaps, "without one's choice." i remember perusing some Thomas Mann book or other, whereupon i happened across the said phrase....but as i've been remiss in reading a good book out of my own volition in nearly 2 years, i've long forgotten the phrase and was wondering if anyone knows what im talking about? :D |
