not another one of these.

both are genres that pretty much everyone will have different opinions of. In general

Trance: more about the build-up, ie the track goes all quite and then builds up to a crescendo and the beat kicks back in. Trance is more fluffy

example djs Armin, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk

Techno: More about the beat, maybe more subtle as well in its build up. Possibly slightly more repetivtive. Techno is more grimey

example djs: Carl Cox, Dave Clarke, UMEK

Trance = microwaved junk food.

Techno = gourmet dinner.

When you say techno is more about the beat... similar to house music correct.... not so melodic but more of repetative beats?

And when you say trance is fluffy, that means is usually more melodic with synths and less about the beat...

Trance is generally a longer more progressive type of EDM. Its more about the buildup than techno.

Trance is more melodic and easier on the ear, while Techno is more drum/bass oriented.

Trance:

Melodic, build up, addition and subtraction of instuments, "happy", gets adrenaline rushing. Kind of like an essay, rather than a statement.

Techno:
Repetative, not build up, few intruments, "depressing", good background music. Kind of like a statment rather than an essay. When I listen to techno after listening to trance, the techno sounds empty and repetative. I like both generes though.

Techno depressing? Nah. It's energetic and evil... in some cases. :happy2: Prog house is more depressing.
