It all started with a bang...
One late night in September 1982 my mother blasted me out screaming to this world.
Now, 21 years later here I am, still living at home with my parent
in the same room in the same little yellow house
20 kilometers outside of the capitol of Sweden, Stockholm.
"Music has always been a big part of my life..."
Ohh come on! Be a little more original.
That's what every producer says in their bio.
I mean who hasn't grown up listening to music?
From age 0 -> 14 in a few words:
Learned how to walk, talk, take a piss without wearing dypers,
tie my own shoes, ride the bicycle, swim, build LEGO, play alot of video games
and later on discovering that girls are more interesting than I first thought...
When I was 14 a friend showed me a cool new program he had found on a BBS.
It was called Fast Tracker 2 and it looked really suspicious the first time I laid my eyes on it.
What I didn't know then was that I would spend 5 years of my life
in front of that black layout placing notes in the right fields.
At this time I was listening to alot of German Hardcore
(please don't shoot me)
like Thunderdome compilations and artists like
Omar Santana, DJ Promo, The Chosen Few & Lords Of The Underworld.
So the music I tried to produce was suppose to sound something like this.
But of course it didn't...
Some years later I got to hear the album that would finnaly take me out
of the crazy hardcore state I was in.
A friend of mine had bought the album 'Astral Projection - Trust In Trance'
and I got shocked that something could sound so good
without going at 180bpm with the dist machine at max.
Since that day Astral Projection have a special place in my heart,
my saviours and largest inspiration source, I owe them alot...
Gate42?
I began to realize how geeky my old tracker nick Mr Smile sounded
and started to think of another name I could use.
At the time I was reading "The Hitch Hikers Guide To The Galaxy"
and was fashinated by the number 42.
And in some mysterious way I came up with the name Gate42.
The meaning of the name would then be "The gate to the answers".
