'Survivor' winner Hatch charged with filing false tax return

Richard Hatch, who became a millionaire when he won the first "Survivor" series, was charged Tuesday with filing a false tax return for allegedly failing to report his winnings from the CBS show.
Hatch, 43, of Newport, R.I., also was charged with failing to report about $321,000 paid to him by a Boston radio station, the U.S. attorney's office in Providence said.
He faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge.
Prosecutors also said Hatch failed to report income he earned during appearances on WQSX-FM in Boston from January to December 2001.
An arraignment has been scheduled for Monday in U.S. District Court in Providence.
A message left at Hatch's home was not immediately returned.
